Tyndrum is ideally located within the national park, has 2 separate railway lines serving us (ideal for getting here from anywhere in the UK) and is the main route North into the highlands, with the A82 heading North to Fort William and the A85 (which starts just outside Tyndrum) heading to Oban on the West coast.
Please see our Tyndrum Village page for more information.
Tyndrum has recently seen a resurgence in interest from mining companies for Gold mining and an old mine just outside Tyndrum has recently had an application to re-open approved. This means that the rivers coming from the hills passing through Tyndrum have Gold deposits and are proving popular for panning.
If you want to try it, we can hire you the equipment.
Tyndrum is an excellent base for you to explore all the activities and outdoor pursuits available in Scottish West Highlands – please check out the Activitiessection of our site for more info.
