ByTheWay is located in Tyndrum, within Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and roughly halfway between the northern end of Loch Lomond and Glencoe.
Sitting at an important Highland crossroads, Tyndrum is exceptionally well placed for travelling north towards Fort William, west towards Oban or south towards Loch Lomond and Glasgow.
ByTheWay sits around 300 metres from the main road and just a short distance from the centre of Tyndrum, giving you the best of both worlds — peaceful surroundings with excellent connections close by.
Tyndrum Lower railway station is right beside the site, while the A82 and A85 provide easy road access in several directions. The West Highland Way also passes directly by ByTheWay, making our location particularly convenient for those arriving on foot.
One of Tyndrum’s biggest advantages is its location. The village sits where two important Highland roads meet, making it a natural base or stopping point when travelling through western Scotland.
The A82 runs south towards Loch Lomond and Glasgow and north towards Bridge of Orchy, Glencoe and Fort William. The A85 begins just outside Tyndrum and travels west towards Oban.

Tyndrum has two railway stations. ByTheWay is situated immediately beside Tyndrum Lower, on the line connecting Glasgow and Oban.
Tyndrum is served by many scheduled coach services travelling through this major Highland road junction.
The West Highland Way passes directly by ByTheWay, making the site an easy stop for walkers travelling through Tyndrum.
Oban is approximately 35 miles away and provides ferry connections to several west coast islands, including Mull, Coll, Tiree and Colonsay.
The Glasgow–Oban railway terminates close to Oban’s ferry terminal, making onward island travel possible without taking a car.
Tyndrum works equally well as somewhere to break up a longer Scottish journey or as a base for exploring the surrounding region.
Head north for Glencoe and Fort William, west for Oban and the coast, or south towards Loch Lomond. With road, rail, bus and walking connections all converging around the village, you can explore surprisingly far without repeatedly changing accommodation.
